SEPTEMBER –
On Gardeners’ World this week Monty Don was talking about Sedum.
He said leave the heads of Sedum on through the winter to protect them. Cut them down close to the ground in Spring and as they grow, if they become too ‘leggy’, cut out the centre shoot around June and they will grow stronger and this will prevent them from collapsing.
If you don’t want to over winter that favourite massive sprawling Geranium, then take cuttings from it now. 5 in a 5-inch pot of multi-purpose compost and grit. No need to cover, but keep well watered and put in the greenhouse/house.
